ContactCan Green Nano be used on berries, e.g. raspberries or blackberries?
The product may be used in the crops specified in the authorisation document / instructions for use. However, as the active ingredients are not species-specific, they are likely to be effective against other pathogens of other plants as well. We are currently carrying out studies in this area.
Could it pose a risk to beneficial bacteria in the soil?
The product is a non-selective antimicrobial agent, so it may affect the soil microbiome. However, as it is volatile (evaporates quickly) and does not penetrate deep into the soil, we do not expect any harmful effects, even in the long term. To the best of our current knowledge, it does not persist or accumulate in the soil.
Can it be used as a dormant (winter wash) spray?
We do not recommend it on its own as a dormant (winter wash) spray; use the usual copper/sulphur-based and oil-based products for that instead. From bud burst onwards, however, we recommend Green Nano as a preventive treatment or in combination treatments.
Is there any incompatibility with Greenman agro or Amazon?
As the product primarily has an antimicrobial effect, we do not recommend applying it directly together with microbial products (e.g. bacterial fertilisers) or other biological plant protection products. The product contains essential oils as its active ingredients, so with a gap of a few days (applying Green Nano first, then the microbial product) harmful effects are unlikely.
Can it be used on peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, grapevines or cereals?
The product may be used in the crops specified in the authorisation document / instructions for use. However, as the active ingredients are not species-specific, they are likely to be effective against other pathogens of other plants as well. We are currently carrying out studies in this area.
Testing its use and effectiveness in grapevines is definitely a focus of our further research.
Can it also be used indoors on houseplants?
Because of its characteristic odour, we do not recommend using the product indoors. One solution is to treat the plant outdoors and bring it back inside a few hours later.
Can it be dangerous to people, bees or animals?
As with the use of any product, it carries certain risks, but it is essentially not a hazardous product, especially in its diluted, ready-to-use form. Undiluted, concentrated plant essential oils may cause mild skin symptoms (irritation) — in this case, wash the product off the skin immediately. Contact with the eyes must be avoided at all costs; wearing safety goggles is recommended.
No bee-hazard labelling is required, but as with other products, it is best to spray in the evening or early morning, when bees are no longer active and the cloud of essential oil that forms is not carried away by the wind. The diluted product poses no greater risk to other animals (e.g. dogs, cats).
What rules apply to storing and transporting the product?
For storage, the GHS pictograms on the label are authoritative. The product is not flammable. Keep it tightly closed in a frost-free, cool, dry and well-ventilated place, protected from light and heat sources. Store locked up and out of the reach of children. People with damaged or sensitive skin are advised to wear rubber gloves.
There are no special restrictions on storing it together with other products. In a closed container that protects it from light, it can be stored at 5–25 °C for at least 1 year.
How should empty packaging be stored, collected and returned?
As indicated on the packaging, empty containers should be returned to Cseber Nonprofit Kft., in the same way as the packaging of other plant protection products. After thorough rinsing the packaging is probably not hazardous, but the product’s characteristic odour lingers for a long time.
Is it dangerous if swallowed or inhaled?
Although the product is not essentially classed as a particularly hazardous substance, it does carry some risks. Follow the instructions given in the product information and on the packaging; wherever possible, avoid getting the concentrate on your skin, inhaling the vapours and getting it in your eyes.
In the event of poisoning or an allergic reaction, or if either is suspected, stop work immediately and, after first aid on site, obtain medical care. In case of skin contact, wash the skin with plenty of water and soap; in case of eye contact, rinse the eyes immediately with plenty of water for at least 15–20 minutes. If swallowed, and the person is conscious, rinse their mouth with water, give them one or two glasses of water to drink and obtain medical care. DO NOT induce vomiting!
How long does it take to be absorbed?
The product is a so-called “contact” product, so the active ingredient is generally not absorbed into the plants. It acts on the surface and, as the essential oils evaporate, in the immediate surroundings of the treated plants — much like the medicinal plants from which the active ingredients are obtained.
Has the product been tested for pest control? If so, with what results?
No tests of this kind were carried out during the authorisation process; we only have our own practical experience. The product does not kill pests, but we have observed a repellent (insect-repelling) effect. The insect-repelling effect of garlic (whose oil Green Nano contains) has long been known, and in our own trials we saw that pear psyllids avoided the treated trees. In the absence of an official, independent study, however, we cannot make such a claim for the time being; we are planning further research.
